Do they work?
Wondering about a cheaper alternative to buying new tights this winter. They'll predominantly be worn under baggie shorts or 3/4s to keep my shins warm and dry-ish.

Which ones stay up on meaty thighs of steel?

i use the pearl izumi ones, aslong as you're wearing lycra under your baggies you'll be fine.

I use Solo merino ones, but they're only knee warmers which I always find is enough. Dead warm and comfy.

Yes they work, and work very well under Lycra bibs.

I use DHB Roubaix ones, nice and warm 🙂 and only £19

Assos are the warmest and most stay-puty ones I've tried.

They do work (I use Endura), but if you use them with summer weight lycra shorts, it can get a bit chilly on the willy...I now use proper winter tights, which cost £13 from Aldi.

scratch that, that's 2 votes for endura.

As I said, they'll be worn with lycra shorts and baggies of some sort over the top.

I'd guess DHB are the cheapest though.

I use Endura and Nike legwarmers and Assos and Lusso kneewarmers.

I prefer the Endura (FS260s) and the Lusso ones.

Endura's new FS260 ones look really good.

Defeet merino Kneekers being worn here at the moment. The Defeet Armskins are great but too early to say whether the Kneekers are better than roubaix kneewarmers.

(edit - I don't use legwarmers, only kneewarmers. If it's cold enough to need more then I'in in full overtights)

Leg and arm warmers are one of those things that seem all a bit roadie but if you get over that, then they work brilliantly. I find they're most useful in Autumn and particularly spring, where the days can start freezing cold and then turn warm unexpectedly. You can carry the warmers in a pocket but they are like carrying a whole extra layer.

To add to the recommended brands, I am using a pair of Gore which are very good indeed.

661 Kyle Straits make good knee-warmers 🙂

I've got a couple of pairs of full winter tights, and want something for when its not quite cold enough for them. Also, it means I can peel off all my muddy layers in the utility room at home, rather than walking all the way through the house and getting in trouble with the missus.

Using Endura thermal bib-longs here. Lovely fleece lining so nice and warm and cover the knees which I think is very important - at least at my age it is 🙁

+1

When it's consistently cold, they're not much use, and it's time to break out the full winter gear.

Best thing about them is you can peel them off in the garage, and walk into the home nearly mud free. I use them through winter, look a bit odd with baggies but do the warmth thing well.

Add a minus for Endura. Meds are too tight around the thigh and slide down. Large are too big and slide down. Must be the warmers as my legs are perfect.
More to the point try them on. I did and still got it wrong. Use a safety pin.
When its muddy I use Lidl tigts over other lycra and hang in the shed to dry when I get home
