Iv just acquired afore mentioned fork which would have come stock on a Cannondale bad boy. If I remember correctly they came with 26" wheels and also 700c in different guises, but I beleive with the same fork (not particularly long..395mm a-c?). I'm looking for what my limitations would be for wheel and tyre size. Having a sniff about online and scrutinising photos I'm sure a 26x2.20" fits also a 700x38c does anyone have any idea how big a 700c it will take? Could I push a 29erx1.8? Or I'm also considering a 27.5x2.00". Any opinions and/or advice would be very welcome! I'm mating this with a Van Dessel WTF frame if that happens to matter in any way. Cheers folks.

Having done alittle bit of fiddling around with 26 inch wheel bike then I'd say you number were correct

Often tyre size toped at 2.2" for 26 inch wheels. I tried 700c 38mm and again fine. From a distant memory 45mm (1.8 inches) would seem optimistic. Lots of stuff online about 47mm 650b for gravel bikes. So again 2 inches sounds big. But I haven't really got a clue.

But every random speculation is another bump!
