Need to remove the Lefty from my dale and send off for servicing. THe manual indicates the use a specific Cannondale tool.
Is this required? And how do other users remove?
thanks

You need a specific Cannondale hammer. I think they're on CRC for £49.99
Sry mate, that wasn't helpful.
The lefty is clamped onto the bike to a short steerer tube that fits inside the headtube of the frame. For the lefty dlr2s I am familiar with, you remove the fork by removing the steerer tube and then sliding fork plus clamps off the bike - the clamps stay on the fork.
All that is required is to take the stem off the top of the steerer tube and loosen the allen bolts on the clamps. You then knock the steerer out with a rubber mallet. You'll free it easily enough at the top, then it will stick half way down due to the shape of it. You'll need an appropriately-shaped thing to stick down there and hammer on such that it knocks the steerer out. Fork slides off - job done, takes 5 min.
Nice one thanks.
I liked your first reply.
