I'm thinking of riding to Saltaire this weekend from Leeds, but I only have the road bike with me, does anyone know what the surface is like?

It's either tarmac or well bedded in hardcore. I use the next section as part of my commute which is similar or rougher. I wouldn't like to do it on 23C tyres at typical road tyre pressures though. If you are on 28C or bigger then you will be fine.

Fine on the cx bike. Risk of punctures with a standard road bike tyre I'd think, on some of the hard core. You can ride round the bigger pot holes.
