it was a good day, wasn't it?
well done to everyone racing; it was pretty warm and windy in places up there, a tough combination.

it was a tough one today!

trev are you the guy on a voodoo? I think i said "well done for singlespeeding" to you 😀 could not imagine doing climbs on it!

P.S did anybody find a MaxGear multi tool? The irony is that I won it as a prize in first race and now bloody lost it. My Topeak saddlebag opened up some time during the race so my puncture repair kit, tyre levers, spare tube (which was found thanks to the marshalls) and the multitool was lost!

well gutted

Was a good one. The heat and the climb have my legs feeling pretty tired now. I completely blew on the last lap.

i found the tube but i didn't see anything else on the trail near it.
i guess it could have bounced down the side as it was just round past the pond where it's quite narrow and bumpy.

tom, you still looked fairly sharp going past me on the last lap (right up on the back section, just before it starts to head back down a bit).

Organisers deserve a pat on the back for this series. They only thing that they've been lucky with is the weather! You can see that they've put a lot into it and each event has a really good atmosphere.

Going to have to dust my singlespeed down and give it a try round there. Think it would be good as it's all up and down. Now have to make a decision about SSUK........

Ran out of liquid on my 3rd lap, knew I should of used a bigger bottle.

Manchester Trev were you running a 32:16? I was using 32:18 and found that tough! That Yeti looks loverrly - what does it weigh?

Great event looking forward to the autumn series.

normally use 34x18, but used a 19 as im far from fit at the mo, still struggled up the tramway, and the steep climb after the 1st set of berms, no chance on a SS.....

the yeti is fast, super stiff though, my back is creasing me, weighs about 20-21lbs, with nothing really fancy on it, im happy. i did have a 16.7lb carver 96er that was a bit sketchy due to the light weight, and stans crows tires.... fun though

It was me on the red Voodoo. I run 32:16 and flippin' heck was it hard! Had a nice race with the other two SSers. The guy on the Genesis was a bit handy! anyway, what a beltin' course and a lovely day for it. I am still cream crackered now.Kudos to the organisers and good to meet some nice people.

Well that was my first MTB race!

Even though i was spanked after the first lap i loved it - the fast flowy singletrack more than made up for the climbs! I filled my camelbak with High5 and it made me feel a bit sick, thought i was going to throw up at one point. gagging for a drink of water all the way round but my bottle was full of high 5 Xtreme! after lap 2 the sicky feeling wore off and the xtreme came in handy for the last lap 🙂

There's nothing like getting home after your first ever race and seing your bike covered in mud with a Hope sponsored number on the front. Just need to make it a bit lighter now 😉

The course used the red route, none of the black.

I'm still in the pub!

Probably around 6 laps for the racer category.
They were lappin around every 15-17 mins for the fastest racers I think.
Typically a 20 min lap for the weekend warrior class.
I may be slightly out with the times as the course changes every race.

Hic!

Rick.

I helped to marshal on the day and really enjoyed it. Fantastic event.
I was the first one at the top of the quarry and then moved over to where the Have a Go Heroes and the rest, split towards the end of the race.

Sorry if I may have sounded a bit annoying by saying 'Keep going'.
I just thought it was a bit different from 'Well done' all the time. 😀

was a good day, came away a little sunburnt.

started off marshaling the path crossing.. then spent the last part of the race walking around seeing if there was anybody who wanted rotating.

nice to get a little surplus of folk willing to marshal the race.

I stopped on lap 3 to go for a wee 🙄
