Folks

Riding at Lee quarry tomomorrow, is it a knee pad venue or not. Seems to be a fair bit of rock for my knees to kiss!
Any advice happily received
Cheers folks

I fell off my steed last week and really wished I was wearing knee pads - got quite a nasty chainring bite on my leg.

depends on if you plan on falling off. I always fall off there so will be now wearing knee pads when I go next

Did this in August on the bottom of the three drop-offs.
There was 10 stiches in there somewhere.
It's still scarred and an odd shape now.
Them Lee Quarry rocks are reet jagged...

I would, mainly on the basis that I can't see any reason why not.

It's very unforgiving if you come, definitely won't be out of place wearing them.

I always ride in knee and shins, can't see my going for a ride without them.
However, if you take your spare seven question marks with you, they should be more than enough to break any fall.

If it's your first visit, probably a good idea to take them along. Great place to ride - have fun!

Pads are not a bad idea up there, I have patched up a few people up there now and I can think of a couple in particular who would have been much better off if they had been wearing some pads. Knees don't seem to come off too well when hiting rocks. I tend to put knee pads on when I'm up there now even a small tumble on the pump track could remove a fair bit of knee. Still can't believe how many people ride up there with no helmet! But that's another rant!

Entirely up to you - if you want to wear them then do so

Full leathers and fullface helmet. Why would you risk anything less?

I've lost my Lee Quarry mojo after a recent incident involving the rock garden, a lockout lever and my only pair of testicles.

I'd definitely double bag it up there, even for a quiet pootle round.

Sister in law is in the local mountain rescue and reckons most of the callouts she's attended up there involve people falling off the seesaw 🙂

After taking a 5p sized piece of flesh out of my kneecap on a comedy slow washout I always wear kneepads now. Took 3 weeks to heal properly and couldn't go out on the bike without risking splitting it again.

I did not see that on the first read. Ouch.

if you are going to fall off then yes wear them, if you arnt then dont.
On a serious note, i wear knee pads on all techie rides as last year 1 of the downhill tracks at Morzine was kind enough to completly remove my knee cap and half my shin.

Knocked the lockout lever on with my knee on the approach, leading to a testicle/stem interface of epic proportions. 😀

They've gone back to their normal size and colour now and the stem is fine. 🙂

It is generally rocky and your knees would suffer. If you have them wear them.
