I wanted to get one for my gf for Christmas, but was put off by the price, and it needing to be quite a specific shape to fit the bike. Decided to buy the tools and watch a ton of 'how to' videos on youtube and made the bag below. It looks ok from a distance but is not finished particularly well. Not bad for first try I guess.

I was going to try some sort of handlebar bar for my tourer, and maybe a little battery pouch for my mtb for night riding. Not sure how well leather will stand up to rain and mud though - might be a case of form over function, and more suited to fair weather hipsters.

Having shelled out on the bits and pieces to make it, and having about 1/4 of a cow left over, I was wondering if there might be any demand for this sort of thing (i.e. custom leather bike things by a complete amateur)?

That looks pretty good! Nice bike too.

Leather U-lock holders may sell?

That looks cool, very nice. I'm sure the finishing would improve as you made more.

Definitely think there could be a market for people with retro style bikes, as you say though they need to be a specific shape for each frame in order to fit properly which could be problematic.

To maximise interest I'd think you'd want to try to match the leather to the colours Brooks uses for their saddles (despite people moaning about them, my Brooks has stood up great to rain/mud/etc after a bit of Proofiding)
