I'm quite new to this 'suspension' thing and have a 454 dual air pike.
I've been relying on other peoples' shock pumps when around for occasional check/top up.
I just got my own pump and downloaded the basic setup guides of SRAM tech as I was thinking the fork was set up way harsh.
Last night I found the positive was pretty much where I'd left it but the negative had fallen quite a way, so I topped both back up to the basic 130 psi indicated on the rear planning to recheck and do the rest today.
My positive is still pretty much at 130 but negative has dropped to 90 overnight.
Is this possibly just the 'pssh' of taking the pump off and better technique needed (only a very small pssh and tbh top positive makes similar when releasing pump) or is it a Bad Thing that I should take seriously?
If it's a Bad Thing is it likely to be something I can do anything about or is it time to bundle forks off to a techy? Most things I've seen on interwebs relate to general oilbath and seals service so not sure if leaky air is something I can tackle at home?
I'm perfectly happy pulling cars apart and generally expect them to work properly once I've reassembled... not a mechanical imbecile, just haven't stripped a suspension fork before... 🙂
Just done a bit more hunting and found these. Looks like I might be worrying about nothing but don't want to wreck the fork through stupidity (and as I'm thnking it feels harsh I'm concerned that it's the negative that seems to be losing it!)

The negative chamber is so small it drops quite dramatically when you attach the pump. It's almost certainly nothing to worry about.
The air is coming out of the chamber when you connect the pump. All valves do this it is because the chamber pressurises the hose in the pump where as when you full the chamber up the hose is at the same pressure.
As warpcow says it looks like the negative is effected more because the chamber is so small.
Hope that makes sense?
