Hi,
LBS built for me wheel, based on Hope hub and Halo Vapour 50 rim.
They even taped it for me free of charge...
Today tried to see if my rubber of choice will be pain to set up.
Went up fine, but to my great surprise rim was leaking visibly from the seam.
Took everything apart, inspected taping, found few half covered little holes - I guess they are welding wents or sth like that? - re-taped with wider tape myself making sure that this time holes are covered, replaced stem for brand new with additional sealing o-ring... and it is still leaking.
To make sure I'm not going mad pulled 26" inner tube, split it half and ghettoed whole thing. No leaking...
I guess I haven't fully covered all the holes inside of the rim, but truth to be told seam is looking a bit naff with flaking paint and just enough space to try to slot razor blade into it.
Happy to stay ghetto, but wondering what went wrong? Should I try even wider rim tape to cover bead and hook from the inside?
On the other hand seems to be unable to find 55-57mm wide rim tape apart of Terrene. Or 62-65mm Sun Ringle or Whisky Parts.
O just sod it and use Gorilla Tape...
Cheers!

Yes. I always do and that's what some manufacturers recommend.
FWIW on my last tubeless setup (DT Swiss fatbike rims) I just used some 50mm electrical insulating tape. 3 runs round the rim. One to the left, one to the right and one in the middle.
Thanks!
Back to taping then...
Cheers!

Had an hour this afternoon seating a 2.6 butcher, took a bit of doing, once all seated and back on the bike, I noticed it's on back to front.
What a cock.
Couldn't be arsed changing it, maybe tomoro.... 🤣
Are the holes small enough to seal with sealant?
Lean the wheel onto one side and leave it?
Personally, I'd be disappointed a new rim was as described and speak to the lbs.
I will talk to them. They are brilliant bunch of folks, their wheels are absolutely mint, hence asking if it might be just rim that is a bit prone to leaking due to construction and welding wents placement.
Not sure if sealant will do the job, don't want to pour it over as yet before speaking to LBS.
Cheers!

Mine have been fine, but I didn't set them up! I've also never really looked at the joint.
Hope that helps 😬
I've glued a seam before to seal it. But that's on rims that aren't tubeless.
I had the same leak on my halo vapour 50s. It sealed eventually with sealant. Pump up tyre and pedal up and down your street.
Cheers easdoesit!
New rim tape already ordered, will see what I can do with it. After that will be leaving it for sealant.
