Hi

i have a two sets of Saint brakes (820) bought second hand off eBay and after 18 months use both calipers have started seeping fluid.

Just trying to think what best to do.

1. Try and repair (from what I’ve seen written seals aren’t available) but this might not be viable.

2. Sell complete as spares or repair

3.Throw the caliper and just sell the levers

4. Is there a 4th option

Any advice welcomed

Cheers

Steve

4. Buy any Shimano caliper and fit.

Buy some shiny new brakes! The new Deore ish level 4 pots are meant to be ok and cheap if you are a Shimano brake fan.

I agree with the new calliper thing, only with one caviat - when my callipers failed, I replaced them, the lever seals shat themselves a few months later. My own fault, I'd used non-Shimano oil from Bikehut.

I’d used non-Shimano oil from Bikehut.

I have just replaced a completely clear oil in our new bike's Acera and old style SLX brakes with the usual pink Shimano oil.

The brakes went from 'meh' to one finger endo stylee....

Mine are coming up to 4 years & 'may' have leak on the rear caliper, or I may have contaminated it, not sure yet.

Just bought a spare set for £240 with the ebay 10% deal, but the chap sells them on pinkbike for £250 normally which is a good price.

Personally I wouldnt buy anything but saints and if they fail, then more saints.
