I'm thinking buying the little laydee a shopping bike for her birthday (for popping to Waitrose when we're out of organic houmous).

I'm thknk of getting her one of thes, because I thkn it will appeal to her inner moonchild -

Now, as she can't know she's getting it, and it will probably be mail order, I need to take a punt on sizing. It comes in 17" and 19", she's 5'7", which is reasonably tall for a lady, so I'm thinking the 19"?

She could ride either with ease. I'd say go large. I have a ladies shopping bike for that pop-into-town-dont-steal-big-pannier look. They are great.

I'm 5'7 (with longish legs, rather than a longish back) and ride a 17.5" hardtail, but I suppose this bike has completely different geometry as a sit-up shopper type, so essentially I've no idea. You're welcome.
