Should say "worthwhile ". See a lot of mixed views online ....I'm interested but what's the reality?

I wasn't convinced by the idea of suspension on Fatbikes and ruled it out as unnecessary and useless. Having then gone B+ with suspension I came around to it. My "new" Fatbike cane with Blutos. I also sourced some rigid forks for it. Having ridden it with both, I never now take the Blutos off.

Having said that...  getting the balance right between tyre pressure and fork settings can be a challenge, especially how best to handle the undamped rebound from low pressure tyres.

I'm not sure I fancy two lots of undamped rebound, but who knows? Maybe it's somehow Ok.

It depends on what you use the bike for.

Laufs are great at soaking up gravel/fireroad stuff - the kinda energy sapping Liang ride lumps and bumps. But not so good for gnar or trail centre imo.

I love rinding my fat bike rigid - bug I also stick on 120mm blutos for uplifts and gnar days. laufs wouldn't work for me, but for riders that want a little bit of comfort over rigid.

As a comfort adder sure, as a real suspension absolutely no-no...

Blutos were ok, Mastodons, that I have now, much nicer.
Cheers!
I.

Hideous is the word that springs to mind.

They may be this, they may be that, they might even be technically perfect, but to look at them I think they are truly horrid.

I'd rather fit a redshift suspension stem

I had them on my previous fatbike for a few years and they were a great combo to take the sting off compared to rigid.
Yes, they are undamped, but when there's only 60mm travel it's no biggie.

Most of the negative comments about them being 'not actual suspension' come from people who've never ridden them.
As for being concerned about how your bike looks while you stand back and look at it, that's a bit tragic really.

I can relate to all the points mentioned. Yes they can look awful but in a funny way quite cool on the right bike to my eye. Probably not worth it for me it seems as a regular and contented rigid bike rider .

Love them on my gravel bike (Grit fork), didn't like them on mtb (the mtb ones).

They aren't a normal suspension fork, fill a different role imo. Not ridden them on a fat bike, cos I've only ridden one once, and that was enough 😅

Tried them briefly, and I thought they were pretty good. I wouldn’t say they felt undamped, after all, damping is possible without hydraulics/pneumatics - it’s just much harder to make it refined.

As for being concerned about how your bike looks while you stand back and look at it, that’s a bit tragic really.

Part of loving bikes for many is the aesthetic of the bike as well as how it rides. I don’t think that’s tragic…
