Just found out I'm in lath kill for the weekend and the bikes are coming with us, I've found plenty of walking routes but need a bike and wife friendly trail around the monyash area de45 1 postcode.
Length not an issue 😯 just no knarly downhill

Thanks

Bit of a wilderness for MTB, Pennine bridleway and the above mentioned trails but none particularly lovely

On the other hand the road biking is sweeeeeet.............

Grab a White Peak OS 1:25000 map and link the bridleways together. From memory, one of the best (albeit short & steep) white peak descents drops into Lathkill Dale. Clough Lane down to Darley Bridge is fun too. You'll need to do some road to link it all up, mind.

There's absolutely tons of decent riding around Bakewell (sans road), but if you are sticking to bridleways, then prepare to be disappointed - High Peak & Tissington are family grade bore-fests (read dis-used railways)

*edit - missed the 'wife friendly' bit

Have a look for the gpx of the south peak loop on the peak horsepower website. Not the most technically demanding ride but takes in some nice places.

Plenty of decent stuff round Lathkill Dale that my wife is happy to ride. My fave route goes by road to descend Deep Dale (short techy bit at bottom that OH walks) then up to Brushfield (more walky/techy bits on descent) then Monsal Head, Great Longstone, Hassop, Pilsley, Edensor, the golf club descent (bit of walking)to Bakewell then Intake Lane/road back through Over Haddon, about 40k, all easy to navigate with an OS map, something for all and lovely on a nice spring day

Contrary to some responses up there, I think you're in a good spot for some "mountain biking lite". You're within spitting distance of the Pennine Bridleway and - as Ian says - the South Peak loop, which Monyash is slap bang in the middle of:

I did a little review of the South Peak loop if you want some inspiration:

The monsal trail from Bakewell through Cheedale towards Buxton may not be very challenging, but it is pretty spectacular, so if you can include that in a loop I would do so.

that's on the South Peak loop

So's a lot of other stuff ! But I would say it's a lot more interesting than the Tissington or High Peaks trails, and not as technical as the stuff to the east of Bakewell.

Then again, the OP did say length wasn't a issue, so maybe he would be ok with 70 miles !

P.S. Read your article a couple of days ago - might have a crack at it over the summer
