Looking at guided mtb riding in Vegas. Only seems to be one company, escape adventures that offers a full day ride with bike hire. Does anyone have any recommendations on guides or info on riding there in general?
Have used these guys for solo guided day tours before, great each time - hotel pick up, bike sizing, but best was the discussion about which trail and what distance did I want. Definitely wasn’t a we always go here type of trip, they tried to get me the type of trail I wanted (made choices on the fly too at different trail heads). Saw no one else out and the desert was amazing. V dry, rocky and fast, with some great technical drops. Occasional tarantula action too. Took my own helmet, pads and kit, open face fine! Will def use again next time I’m back to escape the strip

I think we rode cottonwood valley near Red Rock Canyon.
We got picked up at the hotel and dropped off - our guide let us down (by not turning up) but a local took us around. Was in July , very early morning.
Great trails!
Escape Adventures is attached to Las Vegas Cyclery which is quite a good shop - quite popular. didn't realise Mcghies did tours but again quite a big shop.
There is lots of stuff around red rock canyon and also Blue Diamond, you also have the Late Night Trial head around Blue Diamond as well (although the other side of the canyon.
There are two Giant stores in Vegas, one is around the Summerlin area and the other further south - I believe they do ride outs from there up to the Trial Head mentioned above.
Alot of the trials are marked and an App like Trailforks should help - i know you wanted Tours but you may fancy a day on your own etc.
Not wanting to brag but I live out here in Vegas at the moment (with work) so know abit of the area. Got my Cube 29er out here to. BTW when are you looking to come out here as at the moment its just getting to a nice temperature so ideal for biking, the summer months are ridiculously hot (we're talking high 30s low/mid 40s) and it starts ramping up from April/May time and starts dropping around now - unless you want to go silly o' clock in the morning.
Will be there 13th to 20th Nov. Did wonder about heading off on my own. Will have a look at trail forks. Approx how long a drive is it from the strip to trail head?
Its approx 30 mins but its a pretty easy drive, its just off the 160 towards Phrump. Nov will be quite pleasant as it is about on average 20C (according to Mr Google lol). If you go out on the 160 and take a right onto 159 you'll get to Blue Diamond as well. I might be riding over at the Trail head that week - not 100% sure yet as its not been confirmed with work.
you also have this area here which will be a little closer Red Rock Canyon
Looks like it's fairly easy to find your way around, so might be a case of hire a a bike and explore.
it is fairly easy to get around, however be warned the drivers in LV are shockingly bad, if you think that UK drivers are bad, multiply by 10!! However most roads have a 'cycle lane' on it which is fairly wide - especially around red rock - in town not so much. I should be going out (once i've finished my upgrade to di2) so i'll see if i can scout out some routes for you.
book marked for later. Enjoy.
First ride yesterday, fairly short but there are alot of routes branching off. Quite rocky in places but good fun (bar the deflation of my front tire)
7.5km Route
