I a off to Vegas with some mates and the bikes are going.
Does anyone have any routes close to the edge of the city we can ride to?
Cheers

You'll probably have to go a little distance for anything good.

This is ace - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bootleg_Canyon_Mountain_Bike_Park

Also, Lotus of Siam. Thank me later.

PS - Vegas is a dump.

Bootleg is mint. I’ll link to old posts I’ve put on here if I remember tomorrow.

Quite literally just spent last 3 days cycling there.

Echoing CaptainF - Vegas is a sh*thole but the cycling is good. I did west side - Blue Diamond and environs. Also - if you want a change, worth doing the “Red Rock Canyon Scenic Loop” road ride.

Trailforks app is your friend. Having lived in SE Asia I’d say Lotus is slightly overrated, but still well worth a visit.

Have fun!

Cottonwood Valley.

I don't mind Vegas. There is lots to do in and around the place.

head down to sedona - the riding there is well worth the drive. Flagstaff's also meant to be good

Me and the GF passed through last year with our bikes - we rode Bootleg, Cowboy and Cottonwood. Bootleg was fav then Cowboy trails.

When I used to go to Vegas for work I did a few guided tours with these guys

https://www.mcghies.com/about/hiking-biking-tours-pg327.

Didn’t have time for long trips away so did day rides, lovely riding plenty of extra stuff the guide can show you on the day

I used to live there, the Cottonwood area is v nice and scenic. Head out of the town on the Blue Diamond road Start from the late night carpark trail head. Both sides of the road have nice trails. https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/3413350/latenight-trail. Bootleg is more technical.

I was there recently and headed down to Zion for a day. My partner went hiking, and I went off with a hire bike to Gooseberry Mesa and rode the slickrock.

Quite frankly, it was utterly epic, and once in a lifetime trails.

Also bumped into these guys, as I didn't twig that I was there during the Red Bull Rampage week!

(this may not work)

@Neil_Bolton - epic trails over that way indeed but I don't think Hurricane/Virgin meet the OP's " close to the edge of the city"

Another vote for Gooseberry Mesa. Amazing place and riding.

McGhies is a good call. Went to Vegas last June and had a one to one guided ride in Red Rock Canyon with Bobby Westmoreland. Excellent day, picked up at hotel on the Strip ( 7/7.30 am) the bike was set up with right hand front brake. Lots of route choices, met some other mountain bikers just had a great time riding in the hot dry desert instead of the wet at home.
