Want a rear tyre to go with my ST high roller. Want it to be as big as the 2.35 high roller, tough and roll well.

Out of the 3 which si best - this is for the peak district so tough is a definite.
Early leanings are towards the crossmark

Larsen's a 4x/dh version of the cross mark, basically. Crossmarks an XC race tyre.

So to match a HR, you want a larsen. Same casing.

I've run Larsens on the rear of my HT for the last few summers, strong and resistant to tearing - local riding is the Chilterns so lots of flints.

Run tubeless too, so <30psi.

I'm 18st and find Wire on 2.35's run at 35+ psi fine for most riding on the 6" bike. They seem to be more tear resistant than the folding versions, a fair bit cheaper and they inflate much better if tubeless is your thing.

I use a Larsen 60a on the rear all year for trail centre riding plus dry natural trails in the summer or riding on predominantly rocky trails, switch up to a HR as soon as it gets a bit soft with a Swampy for the wettest of natural riding.

Front is ST Larsen (Dry trailcentre), Minion (dry/soft Natural and wet manmade trails) or Swampy (Wet natural).

The 2.25 Ardent is bigger than Maxxis' older 2.35 tyres (like the HR and Minion). It feels like the sidewalls are a little thinner though. I haven't tried Crossmarks, but I've had Ardents and Larsens as 3-season tyres. Larsen works better than you'd expect for most things: tubeless with low pressure (20-25psi) it's even alright in the wet. Ardent isn't quite as fast, but a bit better in the wet.

Ardent/Aspen on the HT for longer rides in the summer with a bit of tarmac linking sections. Wouldnt recommend the Aspen for battering through rough sections but it rolls extremely well for a high volume tyre with predictable grip on the sides for cornering.

Having run ardents a couple of years back I'd have to say that the Larsen I've got on the soul (hr on front) looks a lot more robust.

Not tried advantages.
