I have a very annoying and very noticeable knocking/clunking from the rear end of my stumpy. It has appeared pretty much out of the blue (two rides ago). I have replaced all of the pivot bearings and this hasn't fixed it. I have searched the forums and most people recommend replacing the shock bushings I cant feel any play at all in the linkage set up not matter how I try. The feeling is most noticeable when I am going slow and go over rough terrain. I have noticed that the rear cassette has a fair amount of play it - could a worn freehub possibly cause this knocking? The rear shock has just had a full service and I'm a little suspicious that the shop may have done something wrong. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Shock rebound set to fast?
Hub bearings?
Mech spring loosened off, banging stay?
If the knocking has only started since you got the shock serviced then borrow another shock & see if the knocking is still there,or if yoU think it's the wheel swap wheels,it's a process of elimination.

Check rear rotor, caliper and adaptor too?
Quite possibly the shock stroke reducer has come loose inside the shock
