I'm in the market for a marathon type bike, 100ish mm travel etc and have narrowed my search down to the either a Lapierre x-control 310 or Giant Anthem x3. Both have similar specs I've had a little pootle on both so know how they feel but nowhere round me does extensive test rides. Similar weight but will be steadily upgraded I suppose.
So......
Does anyone have any strong opinions on either bike? Anything I should know before taking the plunge?

I had the same question, I went for the lapierre if only because it looks gorgeous. Only picked it up yesterday and got 10% off from my LBS.
I thought I'd settled on the Giant but I just don't know! I get 10% of the value free stuff if I order before feb so the decision must be made!

Out of the regular group I ride with of about 10, 5 or 6 now have Lapierre X-Controls, ranging from the 210 to the higher models.
Some have gone and changed parts to make them a bit burlier and some have changed them to make them lighter. A few of the guys are downhillers and have taken them up to the Dh trails. They were very impressed. They seem to be very versatile bikes.
