You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I am heading to the Lakes on Saturday for the week, and hopefully I should be able to fit in a ride or two while I am there. I have done the Grizedale and Whinlatter trail centres, but can anyone recommend other places to ride that are worth having a look at, I will be staying near Hawkshead so if there is anything close to there that would be great!
Little drive to coniston and you can do walna scar. https://www.justgoride.co.uk/routes/13668
There are lots of other routes on there do have a dig around.
Get the Vertebrate Lakes guide book. A few in there near Hawkshead. The rest of the good stuff in Grizedale and the Claife Heights route for starters.
You're really spoilt for choice riding from hawkshead. Best thing to do is buy an os map and link all the bridleways together. There's not really a bad one in that area. Favourites of mine are anything in claife heights, high arnside and iron keld, and all the BW's in grizedale are worth a go.

Is that the route that was in Singletrack mag this past year? I remember seeing one with a fantastic rocky descent back down to Coniston.
It's not the full route as that one misses out the drop to seathwaite and then back up walna scar.
+1 for Vertebrate Graphics book.
There are about six or seven routes which, between then, cover all the good bits in that area.
You can ride from the door from Hawkshead. Don't bother with the Grizedale Forest trail centre route - there is much better stuff around in the guides.

I will keep an eye out for it when I am there, I've ridden the trail centre at Grizedale twice and I never really enjoy it, I have come across this loop though and it passes just down the road from the house we are staying in.

Ignore the trail centre at Grizedale just go look for all the natural stuff that's there on your doorstep. That gps route hits some of it and should be good fun but there's still more.

That's a decent route. It covers four or five of the better descents. I would probably take the first section of the NF trail up towards the Parkamoor turn, it's the best bit of the route, better than a fire-road climb, anyhow.
Probally similar to other peoples route - this is my take
