Or the Shimano MT91?

The MW80's are not 'that' warm, no?

The MW80's I have are splitting (lasted must be 10 yrs now)

Are the MW81's wamer (than the 80's)?

I've previously had MW81s, MT91s and now have Lake 303.........when they wear out or fall to bits I will be buying another pair of a Lake 303s....super warm.
Note they do not have a waterproof bootie, they are made from pittards leather wich is waterproof but you must treat the seams with some beeswax to seal them pretty much to waterproof.....mine were sealed after the second application when I stood in a stream purposefully to test them out!

Thanks Suggsey - good feedback

The Lakes have always 'looked' like something frankenstein might wear, how do they 'get out of the way' when riding?

Do you 'notice' them all that much??

They are a little bigger than normal shoes but once you get used to them they are fine. I have had them for two winters up here in chilly NE Scotchland and never had any sign of cold feet. They have survived 2 Strathpuffer 24h races too more than can be said for my actual bike!! I always had cold feet before when using Shimanos they are okay for a hour but after that my feet always got cold. Hope this helps.

It does help, thankyou

My MW80's have lasted very indeed. They get completely covered in crap and all they ever see in way of cleaning is a flash of the hose after cleaning the bike

If I am doing a non-stop, more full-on ride they will be OK, but as soon as I stop I can feel toes starting to go cold

I'm thinking I shall have to give them a try...

Does anyone know how the MW80's compare to the 81's for warmth?

The Lakes might be a no goer anyway

Most places are out of stock of them

Is it too late in the season I wonder

I also had Northwaves before my shimano MW81 & Mt90's (both better than the NW's), my 303's are awesome though & will be buying more (though hopefully far in the future, as I've only just got them). Though I bought some more MT91's in the CRC sale cause there an awesome all round boot

Though if you having issues locating 303's, they were all for sale from shops on eBay when I was looking, also check out the 45NRTH boots, a very similar full on cold weather boot
