Put a bike packing route together basically based on the Lakes 200 but in reverse but with a lot more riding than carrying!! Worked out quite well except for a long night in the pub in New Market Heskett so we never made Lingys Hut due to alcohol content and ended up on the pool room floor!

Second night ended up in Wasdale Head YHA at 11.45am due to heavy rain

That looks amazing. Would you send me the gpx for the 3 days please? Or is it somewhere other than strava?

Thanks

Ian

Just completed this route with 2 mates (albeit cutting off the top loop to Heskett Newmarket and going straight to Keswick).  Was an amazing few days with some outstanding scenery, fast rocky descents and more than one long push up!

Spent the nights on the moor above Pooley Bridge, a bus shelter in Seatoller and behind a church hall near Coniston.  Luckily pubs with cracking food were nearby in all cases!

The stop over in Seatoller was a bit earlier than intended but the weather was looking a bit flaky and a push to get over Sty Head before dark didn't seem wise.  Incidentally, anyone who intends to do this route should know that the descent from Sty Head after carrying a bike up for 2 hours will take your breath away 😉

Would love to do this again, maybe with someone else ferrying the gear from point to point rather than with a fully loaded bike. Walna Scar would definitely be more fun without an extra few kg over the front axle!

Excellent route Rich - thanks very much for putting it together.
