Any thoughts from people who have them.
Are they worth the money?
Do you notice the size and weight of them?
Most of all are they warm and waterproof?
Every boot I've ever had lets water in through the top which leaves you with a watertight boot full of water, are these any different?
Any advice appreciated
Do they get too warm, what temps can you use them in?
I have a pair of MXZ300 that I have been using for the past 5/6 years, so not the exact same boot.
I dont notice the extra weight, they are not waterproof and eventually end up soaked, but your feet will stay warm, the leather upper came apart from the moulded heel cup, which I had to glue and sew back together.
They are better than the Shimano waterproof boots, and loads better than overshoes, I got mine for about £80 in the sale, wouldn't fancy spending close to £200 for the MXZ302.
Boots let water in the top, you cant stop that, unless you glued a rubber seal between the boot and your leg. Just get some warm socks and MTFU

Or a less extreme solution of wearing waterproof trousers.

Trousers? For cycling in? You're mad.
I don't wear them but I'm not that bothered about getting wet feet. It's a slightly less mad solution than grafting a rubber gasket onto your leg, but hey if it works for you.
What about a strip of gaffer tape to tape the top of the boot to your leggings? You'd look like a Tw**t but it might keep the water out???

Luckily my Shiman MW80's performed brilliantly last winter, though it was more cold than wet round here. As I have been previously tempted to try cutting off the hand part of a marigold glove (black manly ones, not a pink or yellow version) and use the cut off sleeve to try to seal my winter boots to my leg....
You dont need gaffer tape to make you look like a right Twa**t, you're wearing leggings!
if they allow you to ride more (which they absolutely did in my case) then yes they are worth the money.
you only notice the weight / size off the bike, on the bike ive never been conscious of it.
they are warm and they are waterproof.
they are no different to any other boot in as much as water will always get in at the top, but these always remain warm... they are a pain to dry out though!
do they get too warm? depends how nesh you are! I wear mine a lot, but do suffer with cold extremities.
HTH
tbf leggings (especially with my skinny legs) and the 302s are a very special look, gaffer tape will not really make a difference...

mmm why would you want to wear baggy shorts in the pissing rain?
What's the fit like?
I really like my old W101 Shimano boots which have lasted many years. The Specialized boots are comfortable but not as warm but both those and the shimano fit well.
The pair of Lake shoes I have are similar to the Lake winter boots - Vibram sole, quality leather upper - but the fit is very odd. Narrow at the front, wide at the back (so don't hold my heel securely).

Why would you want to wear baggy shorts full stop? Surely lycra is the only thing to wear, especially if you want to look cool

Because I have waterproof baggy shorts...
I mentioned the leggings because I wouldn't fancy gaffering to my bear hairy legs. TBH With my winter gear I know I look like a tw**t but it's always pitch black when I ride and if I'm warm I don't care. Davidtaylforth, I agree with you but needs must.
Yeh, I also look like a ****, whether Im wearing winter gear or not.
What about: Normal riding shoes, thick walking socks then plastic bin liners over your socks before you put them in you shoes. Then just wrap an elastic band round your lower leg/ankle and your good to go.
