I'm off to Lake garda next week on a family holiday but will be able to get one days biking in. Does anybody have any recommendations shuttle company and general route wise? Will have a car so happy to travel pretty much anywhere round the lake.
Not been for 20 odd years, but stayed in Malcesine which had a bike hire shop. There's pleanty of trails out of Malcesnie and you can take the gondola up to monte baldo.
I'd second Malcesnie for MTB.
We are going at the end of June as part of our road trip. Got talking to the guy who runs the Specialized shop in Innerleithen last weekend who has spent quite some time living at the Northern end of the lake.
He recommended some places to eat, trails to ride and Velolake for uplifts and guiding
I'm going in a couple of weeks. Staying in pescheria in the South so not good for MTB. Velolake have a shop there and in torbole I think, if you check their website, they have an online chat function, I've asked them a few q's about hiring a road bike from the pescheria store. The website has a few good looking shuttle options from torbole.
Yeah, try Velolake. You can probably book 2 or 3 uplifts in a day if that's what you're after. Though I've never been there in May.
If you're into Enduro type stuff, and anyone is running the 'Monte Zugna' day, you could do much worse than to book on that.
And, if it's wet, avoid the bottom section of 601 !
Good shout, were there in August. Not much road bike availability though...
Riva Del Garda in the top West corner is lovely
Having lived there for 7 years I know the area pretty well, although I didn’t ride for that whole time
Riva is the place to go, get with Torbole bikeshuttle run by Luca. Classic trail is the 601 but there’s tonnes and none are boring. Defo try to do the gnarly ponale, short bolt on kinda trail but it is laughably steep and good fun. Valle del Diaol is a kind of crossover between natural tracks and a built up DH run, amazing trail that is, not found much like it elsewhere except maybe Pila
Caveat: above advice for riding steep gnarly trails, if you don’t like the constant feeling of almost going over the bars and serious exposure look elsewhere!
Luca's moved on 😥
That is tragic! Huge loss to the area. Any idea where/what he’s moved on to?
Family stuff, he's still riding but not shuttling
Thanks all sounds loads to go at.
You need to get in touch with Michael cycle, a Brit based in Torbole, he’ll arrange hire bike and guiding etc.
Google Rebbens Garda, you’ll find his fb page!
I stayed in Salo last time I went and it was lovely. As was Riva
