I'm going up to the Lakes for a week on the 5th, and having just got a new Garmin I'd quite like to poach some people's routes to follow.
I'm looking for good MTB rides of any length, starting from / passing by somewhere not too far from Ambleside, and not too boggy/muddy/flooded in the recent weather.
If anyone's done anything resembling this recently and has a .tcx file they can send me, please do!
Biketreks used to sell local route cards. I haven't heard anything so I presume they are still there.
As for boggy and muddy...................A couple of weeks ago you could not get a car out of Ambleside towards Coniston because of flooding. And vice versa. So I think you will have to play that by ear.
Iron Keld and Loughrigg Terrace route is usually quite rain resistant, but not sure how it's holding up in light of the recent floods.
Cheers guys, I've mapped out Iron Keld and Loughrigg - I might stick to the higher footpath up to the cave on Loughrigg Terrace rather than taking the low route down by the Lake - seems like it might be a bit damp down there.
Anyone else got any routes?

plenty on here as wellhttp://www.pedalnorth.com/content/lake-district-mtb-routes
I did loughrigg a couple of weeks ago and the lake was waaay to deep to pedal through then so I think the higher route will be a no brainer!
