off to the lakes next weekend and wondering if anyone knows of any trails / dh's up there
When you say DHs do you mean bridleway descents or actual DH tracks? There are a couple of DH tracks in Kentmere, and there's some stuff in Setmurthy woods near Cockerham, and at Farleton Knott.
In terms of XC stuff - I like Grizedale bridleways, pretty much any of them. Walna Scar or Garburn Pass are also great fun. Try the Bogtrotters site for routes, or the VG Guide is very good too.
If you want proper DH try Scratchmere Scar near Penrith.
cheers guys, gonna check out the northface trail. dh stuff mean propper tracks not really into fire road things
North Face trail is a bit unexciting compared to the bridleways around it, there's some fantastic downhill sections around Grizedale - but the waymarked trail isn't that great.
Whinlatter is a much better trail centre IMO, but again the natural riding in the Lakes is far more exciting.
Getting that guidebook above would be a very good idea.
Forget the NFT, there is WAY better stuff. all around grizedale.
gonna check out the northface trail.
there's far better stuff in Grizedale than that!
heard theres some awesome dh in Grizedale is it easy to find? and would local bike shop be any use in directions? and also hear they run unlifts?
Quite a few good descents in and around grizedale. Moor lane is good. Parkamoor to high nibthwaite is ace. Doubt there are uplifts in grizedale. Wouldnt describe any of the tracks in/around grizedale as DH specific. At the end of the day, they are mostly BWs.
and also hear they run unlifts?
never heard of such in the Lakes, and these are bridleways with walkers, people riding upwards etc etc
cheers guys, gonna check out the northface trail. dh stuff mean propper tracks not really into fire road things
that is so funny I actually really did do a LOL!!!!
Keep going north to Ae Forest - you won't find what you're clearly wanting in the Lakes.
