Would like to book a nice cottage in the Lakes for a weeks riding. Just me and my wife.

Ideally round The Langdales area (but not hugely fussed) if it's a nice pad with view of the fells.

Any ideas or recommendations?

Not exactly where you are after, but....if you are looking for somewhere nice and secluded and a 5 min downhil ride to the pub (Sun Inn in Bassenthwaite), but 15 min pull back up!

Peter House Farm has a couple of cottages and is on the route over to Dash Falls and Skiddaw House, absolutely fantastic riding and only a 15 min drive into Keswick if you fancy some bright lights(joke!) or a peruse around the bike shops!

Haven't got the number to hand but you'll find it on the web...run by Mrs Trafford...basic-ish accom but nice all the same and in an idyllic spot (in my opinion!)...we stayed there before we were married (17 yrs!) and still go now with the kids....

This spots nice, north lakes again(lorton), but plenty of good biking wherever you go round here.

Anc - that looks lovely in Lorton but looks like it's just a b&b rather than cottage....

Skelwith - Carr Cragg Pavillion nr Ambleside.

Me and the BF had a romantic MTB holiday there recently - Mrs Watson was very accommodating with our many requests! Recommended!!!

No views of the fells though 🙁

I've been staying at Near Howe couple of times a year for 5 of 6 yrs. Steve and Jill really friendly and helpful. Will get your bikes locked up safe and, if you ask nicely, pick you up from pub. The new cottages are REALLY nice.

It's just East of Blencathra, so some good riding from the door, although not where you're after.

When are you looking to go? Can reccomend the following in Grasmere - very nice cottage but its up to £1000 during high season. Go in October though and it is only £400 for the week. Good bike storage as well.

Also stayed here but bike storage isnt as good and is very secluded. Depends what your looking for I guess

Failing that there are plenty on Heart of the Lakes and havent been dissapointed with a cottage we got there.

Stayed at the 2nd cottage above 2nd week in May. Really nice cottage in quieter part of the lakes with great riding out of the door.

If you are looking for booking this year I would expect you will have to take what you can get. It's rather late to be booking. Good luck though.

The above website is really good; the company is excellent and every property I've stayed in with them (about five in total) has been really excellent. They might be a little more expensive, but the quality of the places is really high. They have quite a few places in the Langdale Valley, Chapel Stile in particular.

I came across them from a work colleague who had been using them for the last 10 years.

Yeah that is the only problem with this company; their places are so nice that they book up really far ahead.

Family friends have just converted this place & started to market it so they may have availability.

It is close to Keswick with plenty of good riding from the door.

I'm afraid it's not the Langdales but we have a nice apartment in Kendal that you might want to take a look at. It recently won the Holiday Lettings 2011 Hall of Fame award, beating more than 45,000 properties across over 100 countries! 🙂

Anyway, if you'd like to take a look, there's a website at http://www.kendalcottages.com

Wherever you choose, though, I hope you enjoy your visit.
