You're recommendations, if you please 🙂 There'll be up to 15 of us - possibly - at any one time over a late June weekend.

Cheers!
Kit

http://sykeside.co.uk/camping.php

This is a fantastic place. Its set in fantastic setting. Open all year round. It has a pub and restaurant. B&B, self catering cottages and a bunk barn as well as camping.

Its in-between Ambleside (closest) keswick and penrith.

A couple of years ago the UK Fatbike meeting was at Grizedale campsite. They were very tolerant of us and they are ok with open farms (they sell logs on site). There's a pub about a mile away in Satterthwaite and you are just down the road from the Grizedale trails.

The site itself is fairly basic, but none the worse for that.

Cheers Colin. I'd have invited you but somehow you've disappeared off my Facebook friends list 😉 (19-24 June, if you fancy it 🙂 )

Sykeside looks nice but no group bookings over 6...

Baysbrown campsite in Great Langdale...

http://baysbrownfarmcampsite.co.uk/

About 13 of us arrived at different times over the course of a weekend in early May last year.
Would stay again...central location, cafe and pubs nearby, lots of mountains and natural trails.
Not the prettiest but can cater for big groups.

Campsite here is fine, the landlord of the pub however is a total odd ball and should be avoided

Landlord of the Grizedale pub in Satterthwaite changed in November. Very biker friendly place now, finally!

Coniston Old Hall Kit. Bit rowdy but they let anyone one. You will struggle otherwise with a group that size in the lakes.

The old hall is ace. We go every year and are going again 19-22nd June.

Coniston, with its host of great pubs is a 10 min bike ride away, superb riding from the site in any direction and the site itself is right on the lake shore.

Grizedale camping is very good but the lower field can be flooded.

Coniston Old Hall. Let us on as an unbooked stag party on a June weekend. Did have to pay a damage/noise bond but no problem getting it back. Think we were the quietest people there!! Short walk to Coniston for pubs or head to the lake shore for your own party.

One time at Consiton Hall there was a proper cow stampede, I hid behind a tree, pretty much terrified.

Look forward to it Kit.

We usually get up there on the Thursday, ride Friday (High and Cheeky) and Saturday (Grizedale) then pack up Sunday.

Coniston Old Hall is great. And within staggering distance from all the pubs. We bumped into some frightfully unsavoury characters last time we were there though. Eh Lowey? 😉

Actually…. I might well head up there that weekend. I'll see if our lot are up for it. This could get out of hand! 😀
