I am planning a 3 day MTB ride in the Lake District in a few weeks.

The current idea is start in Penrith, ride over High Street to Hawkshead. Stay there the night. Then the next day ride to Keswick. Stay there the night. Then on the Monday catch the Tour of Britain on Honister pass. Then ride Whinlatter.

I'd like to do as much as possible off road. Any advice on great trails I should take in would be really appreciated. Any classic bits that shouldn't be missed? Also would consider starting somewhere different. Happy to do long days on the bike and take detours to take something great in.

Cheers
Matt

The borrowdale bash intersects honister pass, in fact I've discussed this on stw before and suggested a mass BB ride to catch the tour as it passes. and... to get back to penrith the C2C goes right past whinlatter and out of keswick on an old railway path which is lovely. To make it a bit shorter cut out the bit that takes you past the old ladies 'cycle' cafe at greystoke and just stay on the main road back to penrith. Sounds like a nice route you're going to do, have fun mate.

Cheers Guys for them. I think we'll finish off with the end of the Borrowdale Bash.

And a section of that 200 could sort us out on the Sunday

A 200km off road TT! I thought it was a piss take until I read on. Who thinks of these things
