Anyone been to Lake Como? We're off for there for a couple of weeks on Friday and I'm hoping to get some riding in. Anyone know what the trails are like round there, or got links to routes? We're staying in Gravedona in the North.
errmm no expert, but was there a few years back. I think there is good riding to be had, but it's hard work. There is basically the lake, a road, then sodding great mountains. From the MTB maps in the tourist office, the suggested routes are dirty great 800m - 1000m road climbs up, then off-road down. I did 1/2 of one of these with a German Enduro-nutter woman and her boyfriend, but ended up bailing 3/4 of the way up the road and coming back down as a lightening storm had started so we wanted to get down pretty fast.........
There's a few gravel tracks through the Nature Reserve at the North End of the Lake, but these are deasd flat
Depends on fitness and time available.
Don't think there was any lift assisted stuff, but may be wrong
We stayed in Villa Tres Jolie - at Gera Lario in April this year and had an amazing time. In fact we'd love to go back again it was a great holiday. Dani who runs the b&b we stayed at used to race on the track for GB when she was younger so chatted a lot about cycling. There is a route that runs nearly the length of the western side of the lake down to Como itself along the 1000m line i believe. We drove through Gravedona a few times when going further down the lake to Bellagio and other places. You are in the Alps there so they are a fair size the mountains. make sure you take time out to enjoy the places around the lake too as it's stunning. Feeling slightly envious that you're going and i'm not 😀
