You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've got a bit of time during the day next week. Is lady cannings worth the trip or is popping over to sherwood pines / cannock a better bet for 2-3 of hours riding?
Lady Cannings is ace. combine it with some natural stuff out over houndkirk and you're on to a winner.
On its own - no (fun though both trails are). Including the climb back up, there's about 10 mins* worth of riding. Add in Stanage (plantation), Blacka, Houndkirk etc, and very much yes.
*never actually timed it, but that's what it feels like.
Cannings is great, but it's not worth coming from Nottingham just to do that. Given the cracking natural stuff close by, it would be rude not to make a little loop of it as Pook suggested.
I was mulling over taking my two kids to canning as it blue Grade? It's a reasonable journey so if anyone has any links to other loops in the area that are easy to find and follow then that would be appreciated.
Nothing too hard, but they do the red at llandegla as a measure.
That depends entirely what you want to ride and what's "fun".
By itself Lady Cannings is almost over before you start but there is lots of natural stuff to link up.
Sherwood Pines? The way to make it "fun" is with a stop watch.... which is perfectly viable... but it is pure XC excepting a tiny bike park at the far end.
So if you want to do 2-3 laps at Sherwood and time them thats one or you can combine Lady Cannings with loads of natural in 2-3 hours if that's your idea of fun.
Lady Cannings you'd park at the pub... Sherwood Pines you have a cafe.... so again horses for courses.

This is the loop we do that takes in Lady Cannings and the aforementioned natural stuff. Takes 3ish hours depending on fitness.
As others have said personally I wouldn't bother just to ride the two trails, but combined with the natural stuff around it's a great loop. If your wanting to do just the trails I'd go to greno instead, but there a level up in difficulty.
This is my vid of a loop similar to the one above, to give you an idea, we finished with Lady Cannings and then down the road to the pub.
hmm, that video looks like some great stuff up there. Might need to do that at a weekend when I'm not pushed for time (picking kids up from school).
Cheers
Looks shite that Shires, is it sped up 😉
In the words of Bill 'it was shit'.
Nah I had to slow it down to make it look realistic!
Bill knows his stuff,Get some work done, anyway
It's Friday afternoon anyway, it's like a half day

Blacka Moor and Lady Cannings are ideal with the kids.
Took my then 6yr old on them and had a blast!
I'm also looking to start exploring some of the natural stuff in the surrounding area. If someone could recommend a loop that starts or ends at Lady Cannings that would be good.
I recently found my way form Endcliffe park to the Norfolk Arms but just did a couple of LC laps and headed home.
Ride sheffield and vp publishing released some alternative routes a few months ago when lady Cannings was closed.
