Looking at these places as a stop off on route to the Alps, any one stopped off at them ?
We like riding at Tignes, Pila as they have good range of trails for the family (14/16/54) . I see the UCI Downhill is at Le Bresse later in August but we aren't into full downhill so not sure if it will be a little OTT and the Vids on youtube look a bit beyond me , seem to be in the air more than on the ground !!!
Any other on route to Alps suggestions good for a day or two ??
Thanks
I'm sure it's pleasant enough, like most of rural France but I'm of the opinion that you are better off getting to the Alps and spending the extra time there. Worth spending the night somewhere to break the drive but not the day.
La Bresse is not just downhill, there are a lot of XC trails around that general area.  Clicky
Lots of road/CX routes around there too.
Honestly if la bresse is too scary don't go to the alps.
Yes there's downhill balls out stuff but plenty of xc and genteel stuff. The vtt map posted above is available free from the tourist info office and is great. Also the routes are well marked.
Not been to the alps in a few years, because we have found the staying in the Vosges is cheaper, and closer to drive to. It offers us everything we want in terms of technical XC, big days on the road bikes, trail running and lakes to lie next to and read a book/ swim in.
Its taken me a few weeks there to start to get the best out of the area, and I still haven’t been to Lac Blanc (I have decended past it on the road though) or really used the lifts at La Bresse.
I went to Lac Blanc a couple of years ago. It was mint.
I even bought the T-shirt.
It's a smaller park with a good community and some great trails. Nothing too gnarly and lot's of options.
Everyone just goes straight to the Alps. It's nice to go to other areas too imho.
Thanks , lots to do then so worth a look on our way down, almost rude not too !!
