Hello, I have just bought a KTM Aera comp 29er with a carbon fibre frame. Taken it for a few rides now and love the bike but it seems so jaring to ride off road. I have lowered the shock to 110psi and tires to 30psi but not a great improvement. Anyone else find this a really stiff frame. Might as well have concrete wheels on!!
Thanks
Played with the rebound? just realised its a H.T. guessing an x.c. race orientated one
No will give the rebound a try. I am 82kg and 6.2ft. Got the 21 inch frame. I assume it will all loosen up a little as the bike beds in but you come back from a ride very shaken up
Would you get much joy with swapping the current rapid ron tubeless for some softer smart sam tube tires?

I too have one of these, albeit slightly different spec to the OEM model.
It is a stiff bike, but it's essentially an XC race bike, and as they go it's pretty forgiving to be honest.
I'm 179cm and 78kg's and run my forks at around 95psi and have the pressure in the tyres at 26F / 28R on tubeless Vittoria Peyote 2.1".
The stock TLR Rocket Rons are excellent and supple tyres, you won't benefit from swapping them to Smart Sams.
One thing worth looking into is a carbon post, I eventually swapped mine (more as a weight thing than anything else) an it does take the sting out of things a little, but being 27.2mm the OEM alloy one is pretty good. Saying that I did Mountain Mayhem Solo with the alloy post in place.
I also never rode the stock saddle as I like Fizik Tundra II's, but they are a flat and pretty firm XC race saddle, so I doubt it made it any comfier.
Hi steve, great reply appreciated. I like the bike shape and it goes like a rocket so will play around until i get it comfy. I will lower tire pressure a bit, change saddle and wait until the fork beds in a bit more first. What stem length you running, the stock 100mm seems a little long, i may try a 70mm with 7 degree rise.
Mine is a 19" frame and it came with a 90mm stem +/- 7deg, it's currently flipped so it's -7deg.
I wouldn't go too short as I distinctly remember MBR having the alloy version and swapped the OE stem for a shorter (70mm AFAIK) one, and promptly swapped it right back as it ruined the handling! The seat tube isn't the steepest so putting a shorter stem on may screw the climbing ability.
Any one else own a KTm Aera ? Would like to hear other views on the bike ?
