Just spent 2+ hours trying to get one of these on. Conti Kryptotal 27.5 2.4 DH supersoft, to be ready for the Alps trip.
1 hour to get them on the rim, 1 nroken tyre lever.
1 hour to not inflate despite a 100psi compressor, washing up liquid and half a bottle of sealant. The bead never got amywhere near the rim edge, it never got out of the center of the rim.
No more swear words left.
Hlaf an hour to get it off.
10mins to put the DHR2 back on.I only went with the Conti as it was in stock vs DHR2 not. Never again. Lesson learned. I'd rather pick a less capable casing DHR2 than this piece of crap.
Whats the f&$kin point of designing a tyre that doesnt actualy fit on a rim?
Best tyre on the planet
Which rim/wheel do you have? Personally had zero issues with fitting Kryptotals thus far.
Incredible tyre, well worth the struggle. No bother at all onto a DT Swiss EX511.
Hope Fortus 30 on the other hand, no chance. Rim tyre combo seems to matter more than other tyre brands...
Both 29" wheels.

This is one reason I think I'll always take DT rims. Pretty much guaranteed that every tyre manufacturer tests on them.
Great tyre, although I had problems getting them on the daughters rims - no issues with inflating though.
They come off & on easier 2nd time around too lol
Came off and went back on like a dream on a Stan’s Mk4 rim.
Hope Fortus 30 on the other hand, no chance.
I've fitted several Kryptotal DH's onto Fortus 30 rims with minimal fuss. 🤷♂️
So this incredible tyre needs a new wheel? Got it.
I feel at least half of the OP's pain. Had a horrible time getting it on the rim (Roval Traverse), but I didn't have to resort to anything more exotic than a couple of tyre levers and a lot of stubbornness. It went up fine with an Airshot, thankfully. Enduro Soft flavour on the rear was a dawdle by comparison.
It is a great tyre, which is just as well, because I wouldn't want to be swapping it on and off. Going to fit them front and rear for an upcoming holiday. Not stoked for that job, I'll admit.
I had no trouble with a Kryptotal dh supersoft 29 on a hunt trail wide ii rim.
Have them on Hunt Endurowides, Reserve AL30s, Fortus 30s.
Have had them on various Bontrager Line30dh, Nukeproof Neutron, ummmm some others too.
If fitting from new I will leave it on the van roof for an hour or on a radiator to soften it up just in case.
I had the same issues, then when finally on the carcass was twisted so they ran for about 20metres then came back off for a refund.
Back to specialized hillbilly t9s.
Hope Fortus 30 on the other hand, no chance
Not no chance IME, but almost caused me mental breakdown. Trying to get them to seal was my issue, I ended up totally dumped my insert, & even then it was far from straight forward. Then after all that, meh it rides ok, but was hardly worth the stress
Have had them on various Bontrager Line30
They were the first rim I thought of - they will absolutely not go on the Bonty rims with the Bontrager rim strip installed. No issues with regular tape, though
If you have time before your trip pop a tube in to force it to seat, ride it for a bit, undo a bit of the bead and pop the tube out then try inflating it again (with no sealant yet).
Had a similar issue last week with a Michelin Power Gravel that refused to seat on the front, yet went on fine on the rear.
There are far tougher challenges than Conti DH. Get yourself some Schwalbe Mary gravity pros and you'll be singing praise about how easy it is to mount the Kryptotals after that experience!
I can’t remember where I saw the video, but if you’re struggling to get them to seat fully dump a kettle of hot (not boiling) water on them. Worked for my incredibly stubborn Schwalbe ice spikes.
I don't use the DH Kryptotals - the Enduro ones are great. But I did have trouble getting a Mary off recently. It was one of the old ones with gold lettering and had properly glued itself to the rim.
I sliced the thing completely open like a gutted pig and it still wouldn't come off! In the end I set fire to the bastard 😀
leave it on the van roof for an hour or on a radiator to soften it up just in case.
Makes fitting MUCH easier.
Krypototal trail with a DT swiss xm481.
absolute sod to get on. Lots of soapy water helped.
however it is buckled, the one that came off was also buckled. I’ve had it in the cupboard to long to return it..
decent tyres if they run straight…

Happens to the best of us, mate. Brave of you to share. This is a safe space, etc...

... is rather dodgy in the above context ! 😳
Fitting my argotal dh was easily the worst tyre I've fitted in the modern age. Just fundamentally always wanted to fall off more than it wanted to go on, it's stiff enough to really fight and slidy enough to not go where you want. Spiteful thing.
Away for an uplift week tomorrow and tbh it's going to be a wee bit dryer than is ideal for an argotal, and I don't give a shit, I'm not taking the bloody thing off until it is dead. Brilliant tyre, luckily, because I don't have any dynamite.
Fitted plenty of these, mostly without any levers. I only resort to levers when sticking them on a wheel with an insert. They've always popped up first time too.
Gave up on Maxxis tyres after two in a row were so badly off round it looked like the wheel was completely buckled (after fitting brand new tyres on).
Maybe just unlucky - but after dropping £70+ on each one, I've switched over to Conti.
FWIW, for the rear, I'm liking the wear/traction of running a Soft, rather than Supersoft (on my boys bikes).
I managed to get a Magic Mary Gravity onto a rim by running a very hot bath and leaving the tyre to soak in that for 10 mins.
