Evening all
Need to replace my brake pads(cantilevers)on my kaffenback for the winter. I'm looking to get koolstop salmon at the moment, anything else worth looking at?
Cheers
Nope
Do I just need a v type pad? They are going into a deore lx holder, and current pads are about 65mm long.

Koolstops were the best pad I found for my CX70's, good pads but do wear a bit quickly (side effect of them being such a soft compound).
swiss stop green here too, very good pads
Quick update for anyone interested. I thought I'd see if my local Halfords had any koolstop pads so I could change them today, they didnt, but I came across these
http://www.halfords.com/cycling/cycling-parts/v-brakes/clarks-cartridge-brake-pads-unthreaded-cp522
So, I thought what the hell,I'll give em a go.
Now,I don't know if my original pads were just total cobblers, but these things are a bloody revelation, less than a fiver and spare pads to boot.
Result.
I will add, I've not used loads of different pads,so I can't compare these to anything other than my old ones, but if I can use these from now on I'll be happy, unless they wear out in a week of course 😀
Used Kool Stop Salmons for ages, no issues - moved to pacenti rims and they squeal on both bikes with them on. Moved to Swissstop greens and that's all gone. There's nothing much in it in performance between the two but the lack of squealing is a godsend.
I also found swissstops easier to get hold of.
