You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Seen a Kona Taro up for sale near me in my size - looks like it could be a fun bike, would be interested to hear of any owners experiences. Not a huge amount of UK reviews on t'interweb.
Would be using it for local riding (bridleways, woods, singletrack - not very technical) plus away trips to trail centres and the odd longer 'epic'.
My boss has a Honzo, effectively the steel version of the Taro. He is 6' 4" and rides an XL.
He loves it. His son loves it (also 6'4"). He has had it a couple of years now and put loads of miles on it. Only things he's changes are the brakes to SLX and a range expander on the cassette. He has dropper on shopping list. I would love one but cannot justify and have other projects to finish first.
Not much of a detailed review, sorry. My opinion is that Kona are back on their game in recent years and have bringing out some lovely bikes.
I've not ridden one but I do have a similar slack aluminium 29er HT and reckon it should be brilliant for your needs.
They make really versatile bikes 'cos they cover ground so well but also cruise over rough ground better.

thanks, good to hear sizing. I'm 6'4" and the bike is an XL. Am hopefully going to give it a test tomorrow. Agree kona are bringing out some great bikes at the moment - quite a few in the line up I'd be tempted by.
I recommended the Honzo to me boss. I have to confess I had a couple of sleepless nights when he picked it up wondering if it would be too small for him, but no, apparently fits like a glove.
His son is an aspiring DH rider and as a result my boss regularly scares himself silly following him on the Honzo (not full DH runs obviously) but the shape of the bike is confidence inspiring.
