I recently bought a 2012 Kona Entourage, runs 170mm Domains and Fox Van R rear shock,Im curious to know if i would get away with running bigger forks Ie triples like Boxxers or Marzocchi 888's on it,Make it a bit more Dh orientated
Thanks
Big-travel single crowns like 66s/Totems/Domains/180 36s usually have pretty much the same A2C measurement as Boxxers/40s.
The bigger fork will be just fine, imo. Except bigger. Which is better.
It'll take it just fine.
What do you mean by "more DH orientated"?
Nothing is going to stop it smashing through stuff other than the rider. Though the entourage is a fun freeride bike, longer forks would ruin the spirit of it.
TBF domains are very basic forks, i'd be inclined to just go for better quality travel rather than just more.
Are you really riding anything where more travel would actually help?
@deanfbm i have only really done an Inners uplift and a few runs up my local hills, but it has a few nice jumps and drops, but last summer i Rode Ben Lomond and Glencoe uplift on my Giant Reign and will be doing it again this year,I reckon the uplifts and Ben Lomond/Munros will be worthy of a bigger Travel fork,
Look for a 66rc3 ti or a Totem coil in decent nick.
Beefy single crown forks with good damping - perfect for what you want.
My brother has one and they are lovely bikes (his came with Lyriks). However, as said above, go for better quality forks, rather than more travel. I honestly don't think dual-crowns would add anything positive to the bike.
