So, on holiday and using komoot to try and find family friendly rides. Usually setting it to 'tour' is good enough to get something that is rideable by everyone but the last route had a couple of sections that were really not suitable for touring so I want to update the Openstreetmap tags for those sections so they are used for some sort of riding but not others. However I can't really get any clue as to how Komoot interpret the tags to decide what sort of riding a section of route it suitable for and I wondered if there are folks here who have more experience of Komoor and Openstreetmap together. I'm used to Openstreetmap itself
For example, one section of our route took us along a path through sand dunes. It was only rideable if you are used to Belgian beach cyclocross or are on something with very fat tyres. Otherwise you just get bogged down and your front wheel is all over the place. It's fun and you could of course just walk it if it isn't too far but it isn't what I would call 'tour'. This particular section was tagged 'highway=path' and 'surface=sand' both of which are correct as far as I know. It was also marked bicycle=yes for access which is correct as bikes are allowed.
What I've done is added tracktype=greade5 for soft but I was wondering if anyone has any experience on how Komoot map these tags to the routes that they suggest?
Interested in this too.
OSM I also the place you can fix 'gaps' that stalls the auto-routing feature isn't it? (At least on ridewithgps). I suspect where a right of way crosses another but wasn't built as an intersect correctly?

That's correct. If you go into the openstreetmap editor and then click and drag a point you will see if it is connected properly as all of the routes will drag. Just Ctrl-Z to undo it of course or don't save the change. If the paths already have end points then just drag them on top of each other at the point you want them to join. If one path crosses another but there isn't a point where it joins then split the path at the point where it crosses and that should fix it. Don't delete paths as then you will lose any existing tagging, just split them and the tags get copied to both halves
Thanks, just corrected a load around my way 🙂
cool. I think ridewithgps say it takes up to two weeks to appear and Komoot maybe up to a month. Hope it fixes the problems.
