I’m working as a bike guide in Austria. I take people along a beautiful valley, stop in vineyards for wine tastings and climb up an old castle ruin (Dürnstein castle where Richard the Lionheart was held captive). I cycle approximately 30 kilometres a day and the climb up to the ruins is quite steep but not too difficult.
My knee is starting to give me grief (hurts sometimes but not always) and I think a support bandage might help.
Do they make a difference? If yes, could you recommend one?
I think it very much depends on what us causing the knee pain. Could be several reason which all require slightly different treatments or strapping
Get a professional opinion on your knee pain (and any potential injury) sooner rather than later. I wouldn't consider a support until its been looked at.
