I've decided against knee/shin protectors. I'm only really riding at trail centres and they are probably overkill. I know it's really best to try and see what fits best but I am trying to decide between these 3 and wonder what everyone recommends?
Race Face Ambush D30
Troy Lee 5450
Fox Launch Pro
Any advice would be appreciated
Cheers. I did a search and didn't see that!!
Used to have the troy lee ones, they were ok, but chafed on long rides, much prefer these.
Really comfortable and with enough protection.
I got a set of the Scott D30 versions and they seem all good but very much doubt they offer better protection than my old Dainese FR ones but then they are only trail skin type versions.
YET to find out if the Scotts do the job though mind haha
The launch Pro are superb. Amazing protection and surprisingly comfortable on long rides. I've had a pair for 5 years, had more high speed offs and otbs than I care to think about and never even a scratch. Only issue is they've changed their sizing parameters, meaning the L/XL are no longer as big in the thigh as they were. Which means the replacement pair I recently bought don't fit. So if you are an L/XL based on their current sizing chart you have the opportunity to pick a pair up that have been used only once (allo allo) for cheap cheap price of £40 posted. I'll be listing them tomorrow, let me know if you're interested. Cheers
I've got a new pair of the fox launch pads, sit well and being honest apart from getting a bit hotter I don't notice I'm wearing them. Not had any bad off's so no idea if they've saved the skin on my knees. I ride trail centres and natural trails (Red and Black trail centres, Cannock, Llandegla, Coed-y-Brenin)
Size wise, 5 foot 8, 67kgs and a size medium. (Clothing wise I'm a small but the small knee pad was too tight on the thighs)
