I managed to pop my knee at the weekend luckily no ligament damage as per xrays just a balloon where my knee used to be..... Anyone in STW done anything similar and what sort of time was the rehab?

Every case is different, so there's that. Anyway, had a LCL knee sprain 8 or 9 years ago from BJJ. It was quite a bad one, knee was a football, crutches for 3 weeks, took me 2 months to achieve normal mobility. Couldn't ride clipless pedals for at least 4 months after that, the unclip motion really bothered my knee

Thanks for the response... Did you go to flats or stay with the clipless? That's what popped my knee... Didn't manage to unclip while doing a rodeo.

I’d focus on getting the swelling down - ice (some people disagree), elevation and rest. And then get an appointment with a proper sport physio booked. They’ll be able to assess if you have any weaknesses which causes it to pop, and advise accordingly.

As above, everyone is different. I snapped my ACL and in total took 1.5 years, including surgery, to get back to normal riding (rode flats during that time - now back to cleats), but that doesn’t apply in your case. Get someone to look at you specifically.

Luckily I'm furloughed atm so just I'm just iced and resting and waiting for the NHS physio to get me a appointment....fingers crossed it won't be too long.

Snap, or should I say pop. Although I know what I did to mine, I dislocated my kneecap out hill walking, had to get my girlfriend to help me relocate it so we could get down, I’m going to stick to riding bikes in future much safer.

This is the third time I’ve done this to myself the other two times it’s relocated itself and I’ve not been entirely sure whats caused it, I’m not sure you can rule out tendon damage from an X-ray mind but if you can then this could be what’s happened to you.

For me the first time it was about 6 weeks recovery, the second was over 3 months, this time I hope it’ll be nearer 6 weeks as I’m already more mobile than last time.
