Can anyone recommend a knee brace can be worn under pads or a kneepads/brace combo that are any good
How much brace do you need? I'm assuming something fairly light duty, a compression/support/stability thing, since anything bulkier jsut won't go under pads?
I quite often wear a Neo G Airflow, for ligament support (cos I had an almost complete tear on one side and the other is just wonky), they're minimal but offer a surprising amount of support, they do constrict a bit just by their nature so they're not quite "comfortable"< you always know you're wearing it and taking it off always feels great. But they're totally ridable-in and work absolutely fine under my oldschool 661 kneepads. A little sweatier, inevitably, and the pad needs to be a little tighter than normal as it's more likely to slide. Has kept me riding often when I couldn't.
Also longlived, which is a problem I had with other ones, the 2 others I had before were probably jsut as good day to day but were useless for longer term use, they bagged out and didn't like to be washed, these ones I've had for at least 5 years and are good as new, though they look pretty rough on the outside (I think knee pad use is bad for this).
No patella stabilising though if you need that.
Cheers I’ll take a look
I recently bought one of these. Very comfy but warm (no bad thing). Not worn under knee pads as I think my pads do a pretty good job or support on their own. Have no doubt they would fit over it though. Has a couple of stainless rods either side that are easily removed..
I have the Neo G one but theres no way if would fit under either of the sleeve type kneepads I have.
Personally I'd wear the kneepad OR the support, not both, for the reasons welshfarmer says
Sorry to be that guy, but unless it's one of those highly structured braces that has lots of hardware and hinges, then it'll do absolutely nothing bar making your knee sweaty. There is a bit of evidence that they can help with arthritis, but even that is questionable.
If you have an injury get to a physio and get it fixed.
She’s getting it fixed and rehab has gone very well, but we were just looking into options that might offer a bit of support/stabilisation while out in France next week.

you need to speak to her physio and ask them what they would specifically recommend for her type of injury.
Proper knee supports are not cheap but designed to work in different ways depending on the injury issue.
Take a look at someone like Donjoy

The issue is that the fabric ones don’t do that, they offer no support or stabilisation. The ones that do are big, complex things with frames and hinges.
A friend of mine rode wih one of these and it did not seem to effect his pedaling
