[Closed] Knee and shin pads - suggestions for good ones

OK, so I spent the first day of married life being told to go to A&E last night after my little tumble into the bracken and brambles on Wednesday night. One of the cuts on the lower half of my leg became infected and my ankle was ballooning up and turning a fetching shade of red.

So, I have POC knee pads which are great, but I'm wondering if maybe knee and shin pads combined may be a better idea now. Any suggestions? Not too hot, comfy, etc. would be good. Need to be OK for 20 miles of up and down.

Ta!

I used to use 661 pads for rockier sections or riding on unfamiliar stuff but they always used to fall down - they were the 'comp knee/shin'

After a hard fall on my knee where my pad had completely dropped out of the way, I decided I needed something better.
I ended up going for the 'Pro knee/shin' also by 661.

I tried them on before buying and spent a long time walking around the shop in them, feigning a cycling motion etc. and they didn't budge.
They are quite a bit bulkier than the 'comp' and have a velcro 'sock' that goes round your knee. The knee pad move independently to the sock and so doesn't work itself down your leg.
Only thing with them is they are quite warm - although not as bad as I was expecting to be honest - and I wore them all day in Spain last year in July when it was touching 42 deg. C so they are by no means too hot.
Definitely worth a try I reckon.

The POC Bones ones are the best... by far.

I normally ride with just kyle straits, but before going to the alps last year, I cut the shin pad off an old pair of Dainese knee/shin combo, threw away the knee part and strapped on the shin under the straits... worked a treat, as the straits are great knee pads, and I also had shin protection.

for cheapness, use footie shin pads inder the POCs

POC Bones are the best pads I've ever tried. Comfy for pedalling in and have lasted up to almost daily use for the last 7 months without a problem. That has included some pretty decent crashes. I've not done a long term review but there's a short term one on my site.

I don't use knee, but always wear shin pads as I was constantly scraping my shins, I use 661 veggie they are lightweight and comfortable I dont really notice I have them on, they only offer basic protection but I find it enough- just my ten cents

POC Bones are awesome, but they're a bit serious... Glad to have them for silly riding, downhill and the like but I'd never wear mine for everyday riding personally.
