I have always got a little pain from my knees, it goes away with rest and isn't agony, but I can feel it. Shown by the red circle bellow.

Over the last 10 years of riding it seems to be coming on more regularly now than it used to.
I am riding more than I ever have, about 250km a week. I have built up to this distance gradually, so I don't think it is the increase in milage.
I have started to make sure that I cycle at a cadence of around 60-80 rpm, keep it as warm as possible and try and pedal in an even pattern - limit side to side movement. As well as a more gradual start to rides and a good stretch when I get in.
Ideas of what it might be that is getting irritated?
And any ideas for good exercises that will help prevent this from occurring?
I get mild pain irritation there, if vmo is tight ,it seems to pull in this area ,foamrolling vmo helps
Visit a good sports physio. Will be a better diagnosis than spurious anecdotal advice from Internet 'experts'
If you state your location you may get a recommendation
where are you based, have a good recommendation for someone in bio mechanics who looked at my pedalling action and everything else.
Could be loads of things and a photo of you knees probably wont aid diagnosis (did you just want to show us your knees?)
I would suggest a physio as well... i was getting some knee pain that i couldn't explain. The physio very quickly picked up that mucles were slightly out of alignment (from left to right side)and gave me a simple exercise to correct.
I think two sessions cost me £80 - I consider it money very well spent...
I'm on the south coast, just outside of Portsmouth.
Will consider physio if pain carries on.
Although, I realised my seat wasn't straight when I went out this morning and, after straightening it, irritation whilst riding has all but disappeared. Bit of a dull ache now, but not as bad as saturday.
