Had an OTB a couple of weeks ago, slamming into a frozen landrover tyre-rut when avoiding sheet ice. Took most of the impact on the frozen rocky ground on my left knee. Annoyingly, I wasn't wearing pads, but did have 3/4 tights with fleecy knee-warmers, and trousers over the top, so the deep cut I sustained stayed clean.

Cut is now healing up, scab is starting to itch to come off, but I get a real stabbing pain to the left of my knee-cap (left knee) just above the top of my shin when either trying to move my knee quickly, or when bending & twisting at certain (not all) angles. There's no visible external bruising.

Biggest annoyance is I can't get out to play on the frost and snow right now as I can't pedal.

What's my quickest way to full recovery:
1. Stay off the bike, take it easy and wait for it to get better?
2. Go to GP?
3. Go to private physio?

3 would be quickest and if you need an x-ray, they will tell you.

Unless you know your GP has an interest in sports medicine, you'll probably get "rest and ice it" come back if it still hurts in two weeks.

Physio will be able to diagnose to some extent, and going armed with that to the GP might get you a referral quicker...

You may have a meniscus tear as that sounds exactly like Mrs Dubs symptoms in the summer.
