I managed to fall off today a long way from home in the first half hour of the ride, typical. I had a bit of a dead leg making my thigh ache but otherwise ok. I had to carry on as the wife was out and there were no other lifeboat options available. So 20 milesish later I get home have a shower, potter about, moan about my thigh when after about three hours of being back my knee [same side as thigh pain] suddenly becomes incredibly painful..
I cant walk and the knee seems to have swollen. I slap some ice on and take ibuprofen and it is a little better.
What have I done? I did ligaments in the other knee a few years ago and I knew straight away and there is no way I could have cycled 20 miles like that.
Any medical types out there with suggestions? [I don't suppose I will be doing the three hour event I have entered on Sunday!]

I am also struggling with knee muscle damage, been trying to manage it for 5 or 6 weeks, staying off the mtb and not running. Went for a gentle run, with a knee support on, this morning and now it kills again, can hardly bend my leg! What is the answer? I would imagine physiotherapy is very expensive? So frustrating.

yep same here, two offs in 3 days landing on the same knee!
R.I.C.E
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

alternating from ice to hot water bottle can also help
