I have a Shimano HG54 10 speed chain to fit (GRX400 drivetrain) and it comes with one of those snap-off pins. I much prefer quicklink type things.

I have some KMC 10 speed Missing Links, & the packaging does says that they're for joining KMC or Shimano chains, but I thought I'd double check, can I join my Shimano chain with one (I'm sure Shimano would advise against it) or do I need to get a Shimano specific link?

According to the Shimano bumpf the HG54 is 'directional' so I don't know whether a Missing Link would cause issues.

Great. The packaging does say they can be used with Shimano chains but I wasn't sure if the directionality of the HG54 would be a problem.

I always used KMC links, either with KMC or Shimano chains. They do wear and snap after repeated removal and refitting for chain cleaning. But never really had a problem.

KMC have made some (all?) Shimano chains. I've used their reusable links for years

KMC have two versions of the 10sp, ones reusable up to 5 times, I've used Sram ones on Shimano 10sp chains in the past, they're currently 10p at CRC, if you can find something else to buy and qualify for free postage, jobs a good un.

Yep, happy to mix and match any quick link / chain combo as long as they’re the same ‘speed’
