Anyone done this recently.
I'm staying in Galloway for a few days and looking for some easy trails for my six year old daughter.
We went to Glentrool* yesterday and she found the green there a bit hard. It's a bit rocky when you have 16" wheels and she had to get off and push on a couple of the climbs.
What is the green a Kirroughtree like? I'm planning on doing the red while my wife a daughter do the green so the easier the better.
*There is also a really nice blue that I had a blast round. Would be great for older kids. Overall a nice forest despite the jobsworth telling me to get off my bike as I rolled past the visitor centre.
Guess that's a no then!
I'm sure the wife and wean will be fine
It's a ride on quiet roads and tracks not a trail.centre one really. The short blue should work.
I did the Kirro Blue a few weeks ago with the family (wife + 12yo + 15yo daughters), the 12yo found the climbs a bit tough so not sure how your 6yo would get on... we did the Larg Hill loop which you can skip via the shortcut, and we missed out Doon Hill. Larg Hill bit drops a long way (on a nice singletrack) with lots of fireroad climbing to get back up again, so it might be that the blue with shortcut could be ok, although much of it is shared with the red so you get lots of faster riders on there too, so not ideal!
Poss not what you’re after but for any easy “off road well tarmac” Have a look at the forest drive car routes, they car roads but dirt surface.

Carrick and raiders , you could drive to checkout (*£2 ??), we’ve driven one in a motorhome , sorry can’t remember which (raiders at a guess) and cycled the loch trool one, it had some hills and was a BIG pebble surfaced in bits so imho not for a nipper.(*was a few years ago)
Also have seen this on a map

My wife and 8yr old did the green in the summer and found it fine. We all did the blue which is one of the most boring rides I’ve ever done. Mostly fire road with one trail at the mid point. It’s a fun trail and my daughter loved it but I had to push her up some of the steeper bits in the first half.
