So Kinver has been in the news over the last couple of days with reports/coverage of fires. Now i rode through the Million (just straight down the BW), Enville and Kinver yesterday and saw no trace of the Fires, i can also see the top of the Million from my bedroom window and can see no smoke.
They just mentioned Kinver's fires on the One show saying they are still bad..Whereabouts are they?

Lots of 'bits' of fire damage all over the place in the general area but saw some pictures in the online Stourbridge news today, so there might have been more since... But there was a largish patch burnt in the wood the other side of the field from the old windmill last Sunday

Hmm only glanced at it earlier, & haven't seen any local news - just checked the story again & it sounds quite bad over there. Stuff I saw was 'only' the ground brush was burnt, the tree's showed little damage.

Had loads off txt’s from ppl about this last week, as it was national news but very little reporting about what actually happened.
I’d been riding in there Sunday 1st, and had seen a largish burnt patch in the same area, but it only seemed to have affected the dry undergrowth, so was kinda mystified as to why the national new coverage.

Fire looks to have been restricted to to [url= http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=384977&y=287530&z=120&sv=384977,287530&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=756&ax=384977&ay=287530&lm=0
]“this” finger of the wood near Checkhill Farm, I say restricted but considering the amount of fire hoses lay about, I would imagine it was actually “contained” by the fire service there....

Unlike the patch I’d seen burnt, the flames must have been getting pretty high as you could see scorch marks on the tree’s to at least 10 feet high (will this damage a Douglas fir enough to kill it?). So the fire brigade must have had a pretty tough time. The main issue being water as they were pumping it from over here down the road and then into the wood..

Couple of piccy’s

The Fire Service as always are unsung/underrated hero's, as by the looks of things it could have gotten pretty bad if not contained.
