I like the look of the Kinesis X with rigid max light forks. I used to have a Gary Fisher Rigg SS 29er quite a few years ago and would like to get another lightweight SS rigid bike. I have considered getting a gravel type bike as I have owned and raced CX in the past but would prefer the MTB. Where I live a SS rigid would be ideal, my FS XC bike is far too much for the area where I live. Can this frame be used as a SS? the Rigg had an eccentric bottom bracket and my fixed wheel winter road bike has rear facing drop outs. I would rather not have a tensioner so is it possible??
I don't think so, I also briefly considered it but like you, wanted to avoid s chain tensioner.
I've bought a bike with a PF30 BB and am impatiently waiting for a PF30 eccentric BB to be delivered. Opens up the choice of frames you can run without a tensioner. The frame builder offers my PF30 frame specced with a PF30 eccentric BB which gives me reassurance that it's a good solution.
Genuine questuon guys.
Wouldn't a pf eccentric BB be liable to turn within the frames BB due to no threads to hold it in place once tightened?
I hope not 🙂
The two main ones have a pair of pinch bolts that join the cups, and I saw comments saying they may not work on frames that have an inside lip in the BB shell. I'm sure my wife's old Lapierre has a lip as there is not much of an edge to drift out the old BB.
The two I considered are models by Problem Solvers and Wheels MFG/Manufacturing. I bought the one the frame builder specs the bike with to be on the safe side.
