As title says, I have the cx disc wheels, i know I've serviced it before, the rear wheel, but this time it was all seized up. Taken the end caps off, but the axel seems jammed in the hub or the free hub body, I cant remember id if should just slide out or not?? Ive tapped it a few times with rubber mallet, but it isn't moving, If someone could point me to an exploded diagram or instructions to dismantle id appreciate it. It may be a case of just hitting it harder, but I don't want to incase its supposed to screw out?? I cant see how it would screw out as theres nothing to grab it with to screw it out though?? HELP PLEASE 🙂 xxx

might depend which version - had a similar problem a few weeks back and the obvious answer is screws out with a hex key but that was for version with thru axle option and the once you know it there the hex hole is obvious

as an aside though i like kinesis products the link to instructions for wheels on the website just give some sh1tty standard warning stuff no diagram - get that sorted please

Yeah, I obviously went to their website and presumed id find the diagrams and info I need, but like you say, shitty info about standards was all I found. My first post was a little wrong, Ive already got the axel out of the hub, I'm now left with an axel that is stuck in the free hub body. The free hub spins on the axel, as in the bearings go round, but the axel is stuck fast. Its this that I'm not sure about, do I hit it harder with a hammer (rubber) or am I missing something I should do?? The wheel is the v3 version, the ones with the blue stickers, not the newer grey sticker version. How do I put pictures into this post??

Thats the wheel anyway, check the pic of the rear hub, imagine no hub body, just the free hub and the axel stuck in it.

🙁 just been to look and mine are the grey V4 think but look the same

yep the free hub comes off when you loosen the axle, nearly lost the pawls - have you removed the caps from both ends with I think a 5mm hex - consider this a bump - good luck - maybe a pic of where you are at now?

pretty sure someone will be along that can help

I rang Kinesis about this and they didn't have any info and was hoping instructions would be on their way.

Lesson learned when buying wheels and wouldn't touch Kinesis with a barge pole.

Although the wheel is nice and light.

Right, update. I ****ted it (technical term) and the axel popped out, it was just stuck tight on the bearings. I now have to figure out how to tap the bearings out of the free hub and from which side, It looks like they should pop out if knocked from the free hub side that would connect to the hub. It had a go but so far nothing. The bearings are very rough, if i held the free hub in a vice I think I could get a drift to fit into the inside lip of the bearing and smack the out. Maybe!!!, maybe not 🙂
